Designer's Note
“Incheon International Airport, consistently ranked among the world’s top airports for service quality, has welcomed a new % ARABICA in Terminal 2.
At the center of this area is a spacious sunken garden, surrounded by seating areas and boarding gates. The store is positioned between the sunken garden and the gates, featuring a fan-shaped floor plan that gently opens toward the garden. A large kitchen counter anchors the space, while % ARABICA’s signature stool seating wraps around three sides, allowing guests to take in the surrounding atmosphere.
Due to airport building regulations, walls and ceilings could not be fully enclosed. Instead, the design incorporates distinctive house-shaped frames inspired by traditional Korean hanok architecture, giving the space a light yet memorable presence.
Guests with time to spare can face the sunken garden, while those on the move naturally orient themselves toward the boarding gates, creating a space that accommodates different rhythms of travel.”
