Designer's Note
“Located in the Rabdan district adjacent to the mainland, Al Qana is one of the most unique and iconic sites in Abu Dhabi. 2.6 km of various facilities are interconnected along a historic natural waterway to form a huge complex.
The spatial composition actively incorporates rare site relationships, such as a canal that crosses over and enters the land, and land that juts out into the canal. The land along the canal also serves as a “landing place” for boats, and we have actively incorporated hemp rope, sail cloth, and other characteristic materials used for boats into the furniture and custom-made lighting to create a space with a greater affinity to the local community.”
