Designer's Note
“Shanghai, your newest store is ready to open! This one is located in Shanghai Pudong Airport, one of the two international airports in Shanghai. For the store design, we collaborated with the Japanese design studio no.10, and here are the designer’s notes:
“Shanghai Pudong International Airport was opened with the aim of becoming a hub airport in Asia. In 2008, a new Terminal 2 was built to accommodate the increasing number of passengers, and the airport has grown to become one of the leading airports in China. The new % Arabica will be located in the concourse of Terminal 2.
It was designed with the concept of a “hangar,” a space where airplanes are maintained, refueled, and standby before take off. The store is composed of a thin, white frame, for the delicately framed space to create a sophisticated image of the brand for the viewer. Counter seats are placed facing a large window at the rear of the store, offering a view of the airport with planes passing by. The customers seated here will experience a luxurious moment of enjoying a cup of coffee while thinking about the journey ahead.”
